Visiting UF Pharmacy

I visited the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (UF Pharmacy) with four selected students in GPU last week. I've never been to Florida, so indeed this was the first time. Since the UF Pharmacy and GPU hold MOU, we send several selected students with a few teaching staffs to UF Pharmacy to learn how different US pharmacy and pharmacist is. We hope they will learn how important to know different culture and what they should do for their future.

Prof. Doty in UF Pharmacy coordinated everything during our stay in Gainsville. He was so nice to us and introduced lots not only university but also persons and culture. I could understand how he is a great professor from his students who I met. We visited several types of pharmacy in US such as Westlab (private), CVS Pharmacy CVS Phar (chain store) and pharmacies in the UF hospital. The students attended several classes and had an opportunity to present their introduction to many UF Pharmacy students in Gainsville, Jacksonville, and Orlando. As the matter of fact, they have three campuses and connected via online communication tools.

We have no words to express our appreciation to Prof. Doty. Thanks a million!

Anyway, I was one of the member. Of course, I had to supervise them and manage the entire trip, but I also had another purpose in this time. The Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy (POP) is attracting my attention because recent research topics in my lab are health technology assessment, patients outcomes, value assessment of drugs, and so on. Thus, I contacted instantly to Prof. Winterstein and got an appointment to meet her and her colleagues. They invited me to the POP morning seminar and meeting sharing research idea. I've learnt a lot from them and found a space for collaboration in the future. We will see.

Very exciting, but of course the travel was very tired. East coast of US is too far and 13 hours time difference is huge for me....
